Counseling Ministry

Thomasville Road Baptist Church offers professional Christian counseling to anyone who is struggling with personal or family issues. We recognize that while there are valid psychological and mental health issues which are the root of many of these issues, there is also a potential spiritual element involved. Dr. Shelley Todd, M.Div. Ph.D., a professionally licensed therapist and TRBC ministerial staff member, will help you come to terms with the issues that are troubling you and will help you place yourself on the road to true freedom -- spiritually and emotionally. TRBC recognizes that while counseling alone can bring progress, only a right relationship with Christ Jesus can bring complete healing and total victory.

Dr. Todd specializes in many issues common in today's world: depression, anxiety, sexual abuse, dissociative disorders, marital issues, premarital counseling, family therapy (for the entire family), individual life issues, and spiritual issues. All sessions are conducted at the church office.

Dr. Todd is certified to provide the State of Florida Premarital Preparation Course. Couples will be asked to complete a survey and read marriage preparation material.  They will have a 90-minute session with Dr. Todd and further sessions with a church minister if being married at TRBC.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday. Each session lasts fifty minutes. For scheduling an appointment or for financial information, please contact the church office (850/386-4288). We do not take insurance, but do offer forms for insurance reimbursements.

About Dr. Todd
Dr. Shelley Todd joined the church staff in October 1994.  She has earned both her Masters of Divinity (MDiv) and Ph.D. from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  Dr. Todd has been a nationally board certified counselor since April 1994 and is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida.  She is a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. 

Since joining the TRBC family, Shelley has directed the drama ministry in the production of pageants, programs, and Sunday worship sketches.  She is the teacher of the GraceWalk Sunday School class. 

Shelley believes in community involvement and is a popular speaker in a wide variety of forums on mental health issues, including the Center for Biblical Studies, The Florida Institute of CPA's, and churches of all denominations.  She is currently researching material for a book on the spiritually prepared therapist.
