Membership at TRBC: As Easy as A-B-C

There are three simple steps to becoming a member of Thomasville Road Baptist Church:

A Accept Christ as your personal Lord and Savior (If a member of another church, share your salvation testimony with a counselor.)
B Baptism by immersion after salvation (Affirm that you have experienced baptism in this manner.)
C Completion of the "Discovering Church Membership Class."  Call the church office for schedule.

Why a Discovering Membership Class?
This class is the basic introduction to our church.  Since we have people coming from different backgrounds into our church, the class is designed to explain who and what our church is.   What is the basis for this class?  Note Ephesians 2:19 LB, "Now you are no longer strangers to God and foreigners to heaven, but you are members of God's very own family, citizens of God's country, and you belong to God's household with every other Christian."  This verse teaches us three things about the church:

           1.  The church is a family.
           2.  God expects you to be a member of a church family.
           3.  A Christian without a church family is a contradiction.

In this class, we will encourage you to make two commitments:  1) Commit yourself to Jesus Christ.   2) Commit yourself to the TRBC family.   Four things bring TRBC together as a family:

          1.  We have a common salvation.
          2.  We have a common statement of faith.
          3.  We share a common strategy.
          4.  We have a common structure as a church, which enables us to carry out our purpose

The TRBC Membership Covenant
Those who complete the Discovering Church Membership class are asked to commit themselves to uphold the TRBC Membership Covenant.  It reads as follows:

Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and having been baptized by immersion, and being in agreement with the TRBC statements, strategy, and structure, I now feel led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the TRBC family.  In doing so, I commit myself to God and to the other members to do the following:
I will protect the unity of my church
By acting in love toward other members
              By refusing to gossip
              By following the church leaders
Romans 14:19, Romans 15:5, Ephesians 4:29, I Peter 1:22
I will share the responsibilities of my church
             By praying for its growth
By inviting the unchurched to attend
By warmly welcoming all those who attend
Luke 13:23, Romans 15:7, Philippians 1:4-5, Colossians 4:5
I will serve the ministry of my church
By discovering my gifts and talents
By being equipped by my pastor to serve
             By developing a servant's heart
Ephesians 4:11-12, Philippians 2:4-5,7, I Peter 4:10
I will support the testimony of my church
              By attending faithfully
              By living a godly life
              By giving regularly
Hebrews 10:25, Philippians 1:27, I Corinthians 16:2, Leviticus 27:30
