Update from Wilbert and Meg in Haiti

I recently talked with Meg.  They said that all is well, but very busy.  Every group that was planning on coming to Haiti this spring are still coming and they are hosting volunteers, refugees, etc as well as carring on their normal work.  They have posted a great newsletter and many pics on their website livinghopemission.org.  Please go and check it out it might be one of the most accurate reports about Port au Prince you will get.

Money collected for Haiti earthquake relief

First of all I want to thank you for being such a generous, compassionate and giving church.  To date we have recieved over $12,000.00 to help with the relief efforts in Haiti.  Over $6000 dollars went to Florida Baptist Convention efforts, which have mostly focused on food and water to this point.  Over $6000 dollars was sent to Living hope Mission to assist them in the transportation and relocation to Cap haitien of 100's of Haiti from Port au Prince effected by the earthquake.  This money will help heal and transform lives.  Thank you again.

Buckets of Hope for Haiti

As a church we would like to participate in the following initiative of the Florida Baptist Convention:

Florida Baptist Children's Home opportunity in Haiti

All places have been filled

I wanted to pass this along to you in case anyone is interested.  This is not a TRBC trip but we have strong connections with FBCH.  Please call the attached numbers for more info and interest.

What we take for granted

What are things we take for granted everyday?  Electricity, AC, refrigeration, 3 meals, all of the above.  We would be upset if any of these were taken from us but we could live.  How about clean drinking water?  We wouldn't last long without it at all.  Each day we turn on our fawcet with no thought to whether there will be water there or not or if it is clean and healthy for us to drink, or heaven forbid that it is polluted or could be harmful to us.  In Haiti everyday finding clean water is a challenge.&nbsp

Tara Sloan on a Sunday in Cap Haitien

On Sunday morning January 10th we left Living Hope Mission to go and worship at the church in Fossee Capois(this is the same church college students and adults from TRBC put the roof on for two years ago).  The newly paved road turned to a bumpy dusty road as we left Limonade to get to Fossee Capois, letting us know that we were moving to a more rural area of Northern Haiti.

Reflections on Haiti now that we are back in Florida

First of all I would like to let you know that we heard from Wilbert just a short while ago.  He and his people are fine and he thanks you for your prayers.  Please continue to pray on the behalf of those effected by this earthquake.

When we find out more about relief efforts that TRBC may be involved in we will let you know at that time.
