Radical Transformation. Radical Impact
At Thomasville Road Baptist Church, we have developed a series of statements that describe the WHO, WHY, and HOW of our approach to ministry.
“Being radically transformed by the power of Christ
to make a radical impact on our world”
Radical Transformation for Radical Impact!
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.” 2 Corinthians 3:18 (ESV)
Through all that we do at TRBC, our hope is that lives will be radically transformed by the power of Christ, so that individually and collectively we will make a radical impact on our world!
The reason we exist can be summarized into multiple purpose statements based on two key scriptures:
The Great Commandment: “’Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?’ And he [Jesus] said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’” Matt. 22:36-40 (ESV)
The Great Commission: “Jesus said, ‘Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matt. 28:19-20 (ESV)
Drawing from these two passages, Thomasville Road Baptist Church Exists…
“I am with you always” reminds us that none of this can be accomplished without the power of Christ.
These purpose statements inform our disciple-making strategy, which is described below.
“Go therefore and make disciples.” Matthew 28:19 (ESV)
At TRBC, we have developed a path for disciple-making that incorporates our purpose statements with an intentional process of helping people grow as disciples of Jesus. This involves providing intentional entry points to help people CONNECT with God and other believers, GROW in their faith, SERVE the local church and community, and GO and make disciples of all nations. Even though this process is displayed as a linear path, it is a continual, repeating process. Once a disciple gets to the "GO" phase, that is a launching place, rather than a resting place.
The ultimate goal of this disciple-making plan is that we will see our mission statement become fulfilled in the lives of individuals and across the globe.
