What is the First Fruits Challenge?
During Sunday’s sermon Receiving God’s Blessing, Pastor Curtis challenged everyone in our TRBC family to trust God with your finances and bring your tithe on Sunday, December 3 even if you have never tithed before. Pastor Curtis is asking you and your family to pray between now and then asking God to show you how to be obedient to Him in this area.
What does the Bible say about tithing?
In Malachi 3:8-10, the Israelites were robbing God because they were not bringing their tithe. Through the prophet Malachi, God told them to test him in this matter and He would open the windows of heaven and pour out His blessings on them. God didn’t specify what the blessings would be so they could look different for each person – maybe the blessings are related to health or employment or children or finances. This is the only place in Scripture where God encourages us to test Him. Wow!
Does Pastor Curtis check my giving?
Nope! He is encouraging you to pray and be obedient to how God is leading you.
On December 3 will I have to come to the front of the church and bring my tithe?
Absolutely not! You can bring it in an envelope or there are envelopes in the pew racks in the Worship Center. We will pass the offering plate at the end of the service just like we normally do. We will send out giving statements for 2017 in the early part of next year. Be sure to include your name, address and email so you can receive that statement for tax purposes.
What if I give online already?
That is great! We know many of our members give online. We will include those tithes as well in our Dec. 3 First Fruits Challenge.
I’d like to start giving online. How do I do that?
