Do Not Bear False Witness

Jerry Thornton

Sermon Series: Etched

Part 9 of the Etched series on the 10 Commandments sees Jerry Thornton, TRBC's Executive Pastor of Administration, take the pulpit. The prohibition to lie is more than just not telling the truth. Are we trying to get our way, gain an advantage or hurt somebody? Any of these motivations can lead to sin even if we are telling the “truth”. We all should look at our motivations behind our communications.

‘Til Death Do Us Part?

Marty Sloan

Sermon Series: Etched

The 7th Commandment, "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery," is taught this week by TRBC's College & Young Adult Pastor, Marty Sloan. As we've seen in the 'Etched' series, each of the Commandments teach us something about God's character. If God tells us to remain faithful to our spouses, what does that say about Him? Maybe we shouldn't ask, "why is adultery bad," but instead ask, "why is marriage good?"

Do Not Murder

Steve Vaughan

Sermon Series: Etched

The 6th Commandment, "you shall not murder", seems to be pretty straight forward and easy to obey. But is there more to it? Jesus tells us that it's not just the action of murder that is prohibited, but the attitude of the heart that leads to hatred as well. Pastor Steve Vaughan brings this week's installment of "Etched" and shows how Jesus speaks to a negative commandment, "you shall not murder" and assumes a positive one: "love your neighbor".
